The Clubhouse

We’re a little late with this newsletter but it’s summer time again in Chamonix and The Clubhouse is open and raring to go. Right through until late September you can come and stay for four nights (Wed to Sun) or for a whole week break (Wed-Wed or Sun-Sun).

Active Relaxation

Chamonix in the summer is about having the best of both worlds: unrivalled Alpine action and healthy relaxation. The weather is generally glorious and fresh and there is no shortage of things to do (or not do); from the gentle – golf, tennis, swimming, hiking and cycling - to the extreme with sports like mountain biking, parapenting, ice climbing, white water rafting, hydrospeeding, canyoning and rock climbing up some of Europe’s most challenging peaks including Mont Blanc. Or… if you prefer you can relax on our sun terrace, take a trip to the lakes and unwind in the casual comfort of The Clubhouse. We can arrange spa trips to soothe the city in you, walking tours to invigorate or simply leave you in peace to make up your own mind. If you’re interested in making a booking for the summer please contact sandie@clubhouse.fr. All our rates can be found online.

The Clubhouse line up

Montreux Jazz Festival (Fri 04 – Sat 19 July)

Whilst it may have had Jazz roots, the current festival embodies a broad variety of music from the more well know artists such as Leonard Cohen, Gnarls Barkley, Lenny Kravitz and Katie Melua to the equally great CSS, N.E.R.D, Otis Taylor, Sophie Hunger and Gilberto Gil to name but a few. The full line up over the two weeks and more information can be found at montreuxjazz.com and The Clubhouse is the perfect place to dip in and out of each day’s concerts and we’re happy to arrange transfers for guests there and back.

We recommend….

Each newsletter we’ll feature a summer activity or two recommended by one of our mountain partners. This is your chance to try something new at a discounted price for members. This month, Tim Bowden from Evolution 2 recommends Traverse de la Haute Vallée Blanche: an exceptional Glacier hike from France to Italy guaranteed to be one of the most magnificent walks of your life. Walking between crevasses and led by an Evolution 2 High Mountain Guide and wearing crampons, you will set off from the Aiguille du Midi at 3482m and cross the famous Vallée Blanche Glacier to Italy. Returning on the Panoramic du Mont Blanc lift you’ll marvel at the route you’ve just taken across the glacier. Prices from 99pp. (Lift pass and crampon rental also required)
