24 February 2006
Just a few things to quickly update you on.
Snow fest As predicted in the last newsletter, we had a big fall of new snow at the end of last week and over the weekend with almost (or over, depending on who you believe) 2 metres of the lovely fresh stuff high up. The half term crowds have left, it’s got a bit colder now too and the conditions, in a word, are PERFECT!
Secret Alpine Base We recently commissioned local artist Charlie Adam to capture the style, character and atmosphere of The Clubhouse in print and his work is here. We love it! We will be sending out over 3,000 postcards of this image to all of our local and international members in the next week or so. If you have moved or if your contact details have changed in anyway, please make sure you update them here as soon as possible.
We have also produced a limited edition run of just 100 signed and numbered, large size (50cm x 70cm) copies of this print and these are available framed and unframed for £100/£75 or €150/€110 (excluding p&p) or for collection at The Clubhouse (or Milk & Honey in London) from 06 March. If you would like to buy one of these larger prints, please email your interest to kirsten@clubhouse.fr.
Stickers We need stickers for our Boot Room ceiling. Not just any old stickers. Oh no. We want your coolest, most individual and definitely UNIQUE ones! To encourage you to bring them in for us, during March we’ll swap a beer or a glass of wine for every UNIQUE sticker you drop in. One per person per night please. This all starts from next Wednesday 01 March when we’re having a sticker party for locals but if you’re in the valley, please join us. The party starts at 7pm and we’ll be doing free beer, wine and chicken and vegetable tagine until 10pm for anyone who turns up with at least one UNIQUE sticker for our Boot Room.
Advanced level off-piste week with Remy Lecluse - Mountain Tracks are hosting an advanced-level off-piste week with renowned French Mountain Guide and extreme skier, Remy Lecluse from 6-10 March. This 5 day course is an opportunity to ski some of Chamonix’s classic off-piste with one of the best in the business. It is open to strong all-round skiers with excellent fitness. You should be able to ski off-piste confidently on all but the steepest slopes and the trickiest conditions.
The cost is £325pp for 5 days guiding or £80pp per day (subject to availability). MT are taking individual bookings for this week and the group size will be limited to a maximum of 6. If you or any of your group would like to join Remy on this course, please call Nick Parks on +33 (0)6 158 144 24 or Julie in the MT London office on +44 20 88 77 5773.
Feedback We’ve not had much feedback from you. If you’ve got anything good, bad or ugly to say about us, please email jd@clubhouse.fr.
More from us in a couple of weeks
