You're sitting in the beautiful, candle-lit art deco surroundings of The Clubhouse bar, a large Milk & Honey Red Room-style members-only bar and dining area with a roaring fire place in the winter and sun-dappled terrace in the summer; where they serve classic cocktails, cold beer, delicious wines, great Scotch and rare Armagnac. The fresh powder is a meter deep outside and the awesome Grands Montets beckons; or you are watching the sun slip behind the Mont Blanc massif and contemplating the climb. . . . . but that can wait, I've got my drink to finish.

The bar at The Clubhouse is a sister bar to Milk & Honey in London and New York and The East Room in Shoreditch. Milk & Honey in London is generally considered to be the best cocktail bar in Britain. It is also Time Out Bar of the Year 2004 and The Observer newspaper voted it The Best Place in Britain for a Drink.

Apart from the best cocktails you'll ever drink, the bar stocks a small-but-perfectly-formed selection of wines and Champagnes a world away from the usual après-ski offer of a pitcher of frothy Foster's, a glass of too-young-to-be-drunk local plonk or a shot of no-name, nasty vodka.
